Moneywort Help?
I have 3 moneywort plants. They were starting to go above the surface of the tank, so I cut them. I replanted the cut off part, will this part grow roots and continue growing?
Also, if you have any other information on moneywort I would really appreciate hearing it.
They definitely will, but I have found it nearly impossible to keep them in the substrae long enough to develop roots, as my fish have a fettish for rearranging them. If this is the case for you, consider letting them float until they have a sufficient root system to keep them in place. You may see roots growing from the nodes (points where the leaves meet the stems) as well, which is normal, and allows the plant more surface area for gas and nutrient exchange-- if you want, you can clip just below these rooted nodes and you'll already have a fairly advanced root network. As a side note, if you have any algae issues in the future, be sure to keep the Moneywort cleared, as it will quickly become overrun and choked out.
