OMG Snails All Over!!!?
I bout a plant from ebay. A Jungle Val and now everyday im taking out 4-6 baby snails. I got rid of the plant but Im seeing them everyday. I have a sand substrate and I dont know if they are hding in the sand. I took out all the ornaments and soaked them overnights in buckets of saltwater. Alot of them are at the bottom of the buckets dead but they are still in my tank. Can I put the fich and Cherry shrimp in a bucket and take the tank down and boil the sand or pour boiling water in the bucket with the sand? I dont want to use chemicals cause I have shrimp and more of them are toxic to Shrimp. What can I do to get rid of them. I cant get clown loaches or puffers so thats a no no.
Live plants are the worst about hiding snails. The best thing to do is to take everything out of the tank and boil it, let the tank soak in boiling water(even the filter and everything in the filter) and scrub ever nook and cranny of the tank and then buy new sand(to make sure you wont have any little unwanted visitors). The snails wont hurt anything really, they are just unsightly. They also eat all the unwanted build up(not that that makes them any more of a plus! lol)
